League Automotive has been building up a beautiful Lexus GX470 in their shop here in Southern California for one of their customers who uses his rig as a daily during the week, and hits the trails for some camping action during the weekend. They went with a custom suspension setup and used RRW as their main source for wheels and protection.
The build was set up with Bilstein 5100 shocks with custom spring-rate springs made by Oldman EMU for a smoother ride during the week, but still providing a solid platform to take offroading on the weekends. The Bilstein shocks are a monotube gas charged design, meaning there's an internal floating piston, attached to the piston rod, which pushes shock fluid through the valves on the piston to regulate damping. They bolted all that down into some SPC Upper control arms and adjusted the height to 2.5” in the front, and 1” in the rear. That gave it an aggressive stance and a smooth comfortable ride.
The bumper was trimmed to improve approach angle and show off the beefy BFGoodrich KO2 All Terrain tires. The customer chose to go with these tires because they have 20% tougher sidewalls, so you can take the rocky roads without worrying about the side. They sit thick at a size of 285/70/17, and are wrapped around our flagship wheel design, theRR5-S. The rim is 17x8.5, and has a -12 offset to give the Lexus an aggressive stance and a little more track width.
For protection, the customer decided to go with our RRW Reinforced GX Rock Sliders. They went with this choice because they preferred something that was a direct bolt-on design, would work with his hi-lift jack, and something that was tough and durable. The RRW GX Slider features four gusseted arms to take on the biggest boulders with no worries, it’s a capable hi-lift point anywhere on the slider, and a rear kick-out that pushes those rocks away from your rear end, keeping you safe on the roughest trails.
